5 Movies to watch during the Festive Season.

The Grinch

My favourite Christmas film of all time! This is the film I watched when I was little and it always reminds me of that childhood Christmas morning feeling. I also love the film in itself, and I definitely think it's perfect for Christmas day viewing.

Elf

Elf always seems to be everybody else's favourite. To me, it's no Grinch, however I do think it's a pretty great film. It's feel-good and funny and good for getting you into the Christmas spirit.

Four Christmases

A more modern film, and more of a grown-up film. Vince Vaughan and Reese Witherspoon are great in it, and it's a perfect example of all of the hilarious family Christmases we all endure.

Harry Potter

Okay okay, I know it's not technically a Christmas film, but Christmas is usually focused on in the films and I always watch them around Christmas time. I've even managed to convince my Mum to watch one this week after 6 years of trying!

Love Actually

I love this film. It's the perfect combination of Christmas, smushy romance and comedy gold. It's set around Christmas and would be great for Christmas day, or any of the (3) days that you have left leading up to Christmas!

Syria - A Poem.

I hope she is safe, she escapes the terror.
I hope that the blood and the death won't scare her.

I hope he won’t cry, that he won’t be in pain,
I hope he’s not blasted when the bombs rain.

I hope they survive, they get out of danger,
I hope they’re cared for by love or by stranger.

November Favourites.

Just a quick little list of all the things I've been loving over the last month.

Benefit Watt's Up!

Okay so I love this product. It's slightly glittery, it's champagne coloured, and it's a cream formula. It looks like golden beautifulness on the skin. When it starts to wear off it loses it's shine and is just glittery but it takes a while to wear off. It's my new favourite highlighter.

Lily Melrose Vlogs.

I'm a huge YouTube fan, I subscribe to and watch so many channels, and I bounce around from one thing to another. Recently I've been absolutely loving Lily's vlogs. Lily Melrose is my favourite blogger and now my favourite vlogger. She started more regular vlogging in September to document her move to Brighton and also did vlogtober. If you like daily vlogs I'd highly recommend her second channel.

Colouring books.

I was in Sainsbury's a few weeks ago and I spotted a book called 'Secret Garden' and I picked it up, thinking it was something to do with the FHB novel. How wrong I was. It was a colouring book, an adult colouring book. It was, along with a whole shelf of others, filled with intricate patterns and pictures that were screaming for me to colour in. I picked up 3, and my mum even got a little one! They were £4.99 for the large ones and £2.99 for the small ones, and they're so cute. I spent way more money on buying the Staedtler and Stabilo fineliners in huge packs so that I had lots of colours.

Dove 'Cucumber and Green Tea' Maximum Protection deodorant.

Have you smelled this? It's like heaven. I usually don't go in for scents like this in deodorant, I usually use the Dove pure spray because it barely smells of anything, but I was looking for a cream deodorant rather than a spray and I came across this one. They're quite expensive, at £5 each, but they last a while and are easy to apply. You just twist the bottom and it comes out at the top and you just rub it on. I also like the 'Pomegranate and Lemon Verbena' scent.

Miniature clinique moisturisers.

Everyone that knows me, knows that I'm a total skin-care junkie. My all-time favourite moisturiser is the Clinique Moisture Surge Extended Thirst Relief. However, it's not cheap, at £34 for 50ml. This summer Clinique brought out some miniatures. I think the idea was that they're easier to travel with etc. But, they're £5 for 15ml. That means that they're 33p per ml. The original sized tub was 68p per ml. Plus, they come in little tubes which are great, because then you're not sticking your hands in to it every time you use it, and they last longer because you can control how much you squeeze out onto your finger. They're lasting about twice as long per ml for me. These are my absolute fave, but you can only order 4 at a time. Needless to say, when my student loan comes in I'll be getting some more :) (Plus, the date is 24 months, meaning they'll last ages, so stock up!)

Clinique Turnaround Revitalising Night Cream.

This stuff is incredible. I was looking for a heavier moisturiser for the coming Winter months as my skin gets dryer and I received some miniatures of the new Turnaround range. I love the day moisturiser, because it has shimmer in it, but I needed something thicker, and more nourishing. There is no SPF in the day cream, so really there's not much point in having both, with one for the day, if the night one works for you. I wear it morning and night and it's such a lovely cream. My skin is soft and supple and feels amazing.

Zoella beauty. (Original Scent)

As someone with a very sensitive sense of smell, I find it difficult to use strong smelling products of any kind. I religiously use Sanctuary Spa body products, almost exclusively. But being a big Zoella fan, I wanted to see what her products smelled like, so I went in to my local Superdrug in Bury and picked some up. (Of course, I had a sniff first). Honestly, the stuff smells amazing. It really reminds me of something that, I can't quite put my finger on, but I love love love it. I've been using it since, and it's been bout 3 months, and I shower about 6 times a week, and I'm only just running out. The bottles are the same price as Sanctuary, but you get twice the amount of body wash! I'd definitely recommend giving these a try if you're looking for something new.

Witnesses. (French TV Show)

So recently I decided to watch this show called Witnesses. It's french, and has English subtitles, but I don't mind that. However if you don't give it your full attention, you will miss things. I would wholeheartedly recommend watching it. It's a crime drama, from the p.o.v of the police. There are two crimes happening at once, are they connected? Who knows. You'll have to watch to find out.

I hope you liked my favourites and recommendations. Have you tried any of these things yourself? If so, let me know in the comments.

My 5 Favourite Instagram Accounts to Follow.

For those of you looking for inspiration, or just for some fun makeup accounts to follow, these are my top 5. (Oh and if you want to follow me you can do so here.)

Huda Kattan (Huda Beauty)

Huda, a Beauty Blogger turned Business Woman posts not only her own photos and videos on Instagram, but those of other makeup artists. So by following her you get to see not only her amazing handiwork, but that of others too. That way you can also discover new makeup artists too. She also has her own line of false eyelashes, which her regrammed artists are usually wearing, needless to say I am now desperate for some!

Nicol Concilio

Nicole makes YouTube videos, tutorials for makeup looks, and then condenses them in to mini clips which are then posted on her Instagram. I could literally watch them for hours, and her skills are on point. She also posts makeup selfies of her wearing the makeup looks.

Anastasia Beverly Hills

My favourite brand for brows, and now one of my favourite Instagram accounts. This page regrams other makeup artists/gurus who use their products and tag them in the post. That way, you get to see all of their amazing products in action. Thanks to this account, their new illuminator is most definitely on my wish list.

Swetlana Petuhova

Another makeup artist. Her ever-changing looks are mesmerising, as are her huge blue eyes and incredible skills. I could scour her Instagram for days looking for inspiration and trying to replicate her beautiful makeup looks.

Mykie (Glam and Gore)

This girl. I saved her for last not because she is least, but because I have so much to say. I found her initially because I was looking for reviews on white mixer foundations or just pale makeup and her video popped up on YouTube. I then discovered her talent for not just mainstream makeup, but SFX. She creates some looks that are absolutely insane. Zombies, monsters, and the like. They are so frightening, and yet so beautiful at the same time. My all time favourite was her 'Frostbitten Elsa'. It struck me how she turned something so beautiful in to something so dark and intriguing. She posts all of her looks from YouTube on her Instagram, plus way more, including all of her experiments.

If you blame Muslims for the attacks in Paris, you are doing exactly what the terrorists want you to do. Here's why you shouldn't.

Before I start I would like to clarify that I am a British female, with no religious affiliation.

We all are now aware of the horrific events that took place on Friday 13th November 2015. This fateful day was the day that the worst terrorist attack that Europe has seen in 10 years took place. 129 people so far have been confirmed dead over 3 locations and their loss has sparked grief, worldwide. But one of the main things you need to remember is, whilst the terrorists claim that it was a 'religiously motivated attack' and 'in the name of God', it was not.

1. They were Extremists, Terrorists. They might have considered themselves Muslim, but according to the laws of Islam, they were a disgrace.

2. If you generalise, and aim your hate towards all Muslims, you may as well blame all Catholics for the IRA attacks. Blame all Christians for the KKK. It seems ridiculous, so think how ridiculous it sounds to blame all Muslims for ISIS.

3. Blaming it on the recent refugee crisis is pointless too. Okay so one of the attackers entered the country recently, but three of them were from Paris. Born and bred.

4. Not only are you being very small minded by blaming Muslims, you are feeding into ISIS's ideals. By creating animosity in the West, from bigoted, Islamophobic, and Xenophobic people, aimed towards Muslims, it encourages ISIS's goal. ISIS's goal is to justify their attacks by creating the idea that there is a war between Muslims and the Western population. There isn't. Or at least there wasn't.  By blaming all Muslims you are feeding into their desires. You are making relations between Muslims and the West worse, when they do not need to be.

5. And just a little something extra: If you think you're angry at what happened, imagine how you'd feel if when it happened, it made people hate you. Imagine if it was assumed to be your fault when it had nothing to do with you. Imagine if it made a mockery of something that you hold dear (your faith) yet made people think that you were a co-conspirator. This is how Muslims feel. Remember that.

Autumn Tag and Sweater Weather Tag.

Last week I was tagged by Alisa from As Told By Alisa to do the Autumn Tag. And because I was struggling for inspiration, and what to post, I though why not :) I also did the Sweater Weather Tag and didn't post it so I'm gonna put both. There's some repetition but never mind :)

Autumn Tag

1. Ok, we're talking coffees—what's your favorite seasonal drink from Starbucks/Costa/Cafe Nero, etc?
I'm not a coffee girl really, I usually have the drinks with no coffee in like Caramel Cream Frappe from Starbucks. HOWEVER, last year I totally got in to the Gingerbread Latte from Costa. It's strange, maybe I like it so much because you can't really taste the coffee for the gingerbread. Plus gingerbread is my favourite kind of biscuit.

2. Accessories—what do you opt for: scarf, boots, or gloves?
I have a new pair of boots that I'm absolutely besotted with. They are the Dr Martens Sylvia. They look like the original boots but are much more feminine, and they're fur lined! Perfect for this time of year.

3. Music—what's your favorite music to listen to during autumn?
My music taste doesn't usually change seasonally, and I don't listen to music too much anyway. Just usually what I like.

4. Perfume—what's your favorite scent for this time of year?
Again my perfume tends not to change. I wear Coco Chanel Mademoiselle all year round. However when it gets colder I do like a switch occasionally to No.5.

5. Candles—what scents will you be burning this season?
I love lavender, at the moment my favourite candles are lavender and geranium. I also really love the sanctuary candles that you can get in the gift sets at this time of year.

6. What do you love most about autumn?
The cold. I love cold, and I hate it when I'm too hot in summer. I love to wrap up warm, in the dark early evenings, and watch tv with a blanket and my dog. It goes dark at around 5:30 pm here now since the clocks went back yesterday.

7. Favorite makeup look?
Warm pinks and browns. I love the Naked 3 Palette for this time of year. A previous post of mine that you can read here is a mini tutorial for a Mauve Autumnal Look.

8. What are you looking forward to the most in autumn?
Early nights and good tv. All the best shows start around this time of year. I also love watching all the beauty gurus on YouTube and their halloween makeup tutorials :).

Sweater Weather Tag

1. Favorite candle scent?
I usually go for the clean cotton or fluffy towels type, but recently I’ve really been loving anything Lavender, which is odd because I didn’t used to like Lavender, but I have these candles, Lavender and Geranium, they’re beautiful.
2. Coffee, Tea, or Hot Chocolate?
I drink a lot of fruit tea in winter, I really love Twining’s Echinacea and Raspberry.

3. Do you switch up your makeup routine for the season?
A little. I’m loving warm browns and mauve pinks.

4. Favorite Thanksgiving food?
Well, I’m British, so I’ll go with Christmas. It has to be onion and sage stuffing, no meat. My grandma’s home made is amazing.

5. Hats or scarves?
Scarves. Hats mess up my hair.

6. Most worn sweater?
I actually don’t really have any anymore. I used to wear them a lot, but I’m a cold weather person, so I don’t usually wrap up when it’s cold. I shall have to buy something new for winter.

7. Must have Fall nail polish?
Anything dark in colour, I like oxblood colours and dark greys.

8. Football games or jumping in a pile of leaves?
Neither. I am neither a fan of football, or bugs.

9. Skinny jeans or leggings?
Leggings because you can wear 2 pairs for extra warmth. But jeans because they’re warm also. Oh I don’t know, both!

10. Boots or Uggs?
Well I have 4 pairs of Uggs, and I love them. I’ve had them for a couple of years now. But I also have a new pair of Dr Marten boots, Sylvia, they’re beautiful. Quite feminine but also good sturdy boots. And they’re fur lined to keep my feet warm :)

11. What is your #1 favorite thing about Fall?
The cold. Being able to snuggle and use blankets. Never being too hot. Dark early evenings.

12. Do you have a song that gets you in the Fall mood or just a song you're loving at the moment?
Not really actually. I don’t listen to chart music much anymore.

13. What is the Fall weather like where you currently live?
Cold! Last week it was still warm and I was so annoyed, waiting for it to be cold. And this week it’s freezing. And I love it :).

Sorry if this post is short or not interesting to you, there will be more coming this week, as it's half term and I have a little more time.

Mauve Autumnal Look featuring Naked 3 Palette.

Products.

Mac Eyeshadow in 'Blanc Type'.

Urban Decay Naked 3 Palette. Colours 'Nooner' and 'Darkside'.
Mac Liquidlast Liner in 'Point Black'.
Benefit Roller Lash.
 Mac Lustre Lipstick in 'Syrup'.

Tools.

Zoeva eyeshadow brushes.

This is me with no eyeshadow, just foundation and concealer.

So I started by applying 'Blanc Type' allover my lid right up to the brow. Once the look is finished the cream coloured shadow, although matte, will act as a highlight under the brow, like how you'd use concealer there.
I then applied 'Nooner' from the naked palette roughly, just above my crease (to make my hooded eyes seem deeper).
 Blend blend blend!
Then I took 'Darkside' from the same palette and applied that in the outer v, and blended.
Then I grabbed my absolute favourite eyeliner, Mac Liquidlast. It doesn't budge which is great. You can just draw whatever line you'd like, whatever you'd usually wear and what suits you.
 Mascara. Roller lash. Amazing.
 The finished eye.
Then I applied Mac Syrup Lipstick to my lips, which is another mauve colour.
Then whatever else you like. I used Mac Blush in 'Dainty', Benefit High Beam, Anastasia Dipbrow Pomade applied well blended, and some lashes.

I thought that this was a lovely look for Autumn/Fall, I feel like mauve is such a great colour for this time of year and seems to be everywhere at the moment. I think I'll be wearing this look a lot over the next couple of months. I hope this inspires you to experiment with makeup for Autumn.

Get To Know Me Tag.

I've done a couple quiz/tag type things before but the questions on here were different and I wanted to do it.

1. Name/Nickname?
Alex/Alexandra. That's it really.

2. How old are you?
22!

3. Star sign?
Virgo.

4. How tall are you?
Almost 5’10”

5. When did you start your blog and why?
A good year and a half ago, but it was only December that I started posting regularly. I started it because I have been reading blogs for about 5 years and I thought, I can do this, and I really really wanted to.

6. What is your dream job?
Author. 100%. I should say teacher because that’s what I’m currently training to do but dream dream, it’s got to be an author.

7. What is your favourite song at the moment?
I don’t really follow music much anymore. So, something on Willam Belli’s album. Probablyyyy…  UCC. Or Thick Thighs. I can relate. (R rated)

8. What is your favourite perfume?
I’m a Chanel girl. I love Mademoiselle, it’s my number one fave, and I wear it most of the time. I also love No. 5, because how can’t you? For something a little more fresh, I love Issey Miyake, but it's my Mum's perfume so I just borrow it off her.

9. Have you ever been out of the country? If so, where have you been?
Mallorca, Ireland, Turkey, France, Wales.

10. Can you speak any other languages?
I used to be able to speak French and Spanish, at GCSE level but I’ve forgotten it all now. I did try to teach myself to speak Japanese too but that was too hard. I would like to have a tutor teach me to speak French again.

11. What is your biggest blogging pet peeve?
I’m all for networking, I do it too. But when someone comments with just their link, or ‘Nice post. Go and read my blog www.yadayadayada’ it really bugs me. At least make the effort to read my post and comment something relevant. I always try to engage properly with people’s posts.

12. What is your biggest non blogging pet peeve?
Ignorance. Everything that is annoying about everything usually boils down to ignorance. It’s like people don’t care who or what is around them. Spelling mistakes, ignorance. People eating with their mouths open, ignorance. Everything is ignorance.

13: Do you believe in:

God:
No. I’m an Atheist. I’m in no way against other people having those beliefs, but I just can’t believe it. None of it makes sense to me, plus I find it hard to believe anything when I have no proof.

Miracles:
Hello? Atheist.

Love at first sight:
I’m not sure. I’ve never experienced it.

Aliens:
No. The chance of life existing on other planets is high, but until I see it...

Soul mates:
Not really. I've never met mine if I have one.

Heaven:
See God and Miracles.

Hell:
See Heaven.

14. What was your favourite subject in school?
English and Art. I'm a creative person, and both let me express that. And now I have a Degree in English and I'm doing a PGCE so that I can teach others the same expression of creativity and so I can pass on my love of literature :).

15. Do you use sarcasm a lot?
Yas. I can’t help it, it’s just second nature. I try not to most of the time though, I bite my tongue.
